Does FDM use a Cache?

Post by McBruce » Mon Apr 20, 2015 11:19 pm

I use FDM 3.8RC 1172 to download weather maps and such.
I keep a Group called weather. It contains all my usual URLS and the filenames I want them saved to. I use this system heavily every day. When the weather is bad, I might download 3 or 4, maybe more, animated radar images per day. Each animation is composed of 9 sequential frames packaged as a single GIF file.
Here's a typical URL:
http://images.intellicast.com/WxImages/ ... e_anim.gif

My problem is that from time to time, the animations are confused. For example, frames will be wildly out of sequence. I'll often see frames that well outside the date-time parameters of the animation. I originally blamed this of the Weather Site, but I'm not certain that's where the problem lies. I am beginning to wonder if FDM uses a large cache during the download process. My theory being that possibly some scrambling of old information is taking place.

I realize I'm using an out of date version of FDM, but it's the latest version that I know will run on Windows 2000. And I'm on dial-up at 26,400kbs.

So, can someone tell me if FDM uses a cache and if so, where can I find it?

Thanks
_Mike
