Ability to download again

I do have a general download folder from which I move files to their correct destinations after downloading. When I do that, the status in FDM changes to "File is missing", and I can't find an option to "download again" the same file - is there such functionality? If so, where can I find it?

I hope there is a feature or option that can automatically close the main interface after the download is completed, instead of me having to manually close it every time.

Hello,
We'll think about it.

Hello,

It's shown only in case there are such downloads in the list. Just add some download and you'll see it.

tipkul wrote:- Is there some way to disable the build-in filters/categories like "Torrent", "Video", and "Music"?

Unfortunately, no.

tipkul wrote:- Regarding option to start downloads from clipboard in paused mode, you mentioned:
There are few users asking such a feature. We just don't want to clutter up FDM's interface.

I understand the need to keep the interface simple, but this can be a single option in the settings under "Advanced". I import all my links from clipboard and I deal with hundreds of links at a time; not having the option to import links from clipboard without them automatically starting to download is a major show stopper.

We'll think about it.

tipkul wrote:- Regarding reordering of downloads you mentioned:
Are you referring to "Enable user defined order of downloads"?

Yes.
tipkul wrote:Are keyboard shortcuts that were supported in 3.9.x such as ctrl + A, shift and ctrl to choose multiple downloads, shift + u (up), shift + d (down), shift + t (top), shift + b (bottom), shift + m (choose download folder) and so on also supported?

Unfortunately, no.

tipkul wrote:As I have hundreds of downloads in FDM at each given point in time, moving them around with the mouse is simply not feasible and keyboard shortcuts plus possibility of choosing multiple downloads at the same time using ctrl and shift is the only way to go.

We'll think about it, but this could be quite a heavier task to do, so I'm not promising anything...

@alex Following up on my original post from https://www.freedownloadmanager.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=18258&p=49945#p49945 and your response at viewtopic.php?f=1&t=18258&start=90#p51201:

You need to enable the appropriate option in Advanced settings.

I am still missing the old 3.x version feature to download files in specific folders based on the download URL domain.
Please consider adding it back.

Thank You

Create a torrent file (.torrent) for a finished download

can you reinstate ther "force recheck" feature? It would be really useful for combining partial torrents.

Hello,
MEL wrote:We would want currently "downloading" files at the top, then "queued" or "paused" files in second/third, and then "downloaded" files after.
Thanks for the explanation. We'll think about it.
MEL wrote:But then it has to be applied individually, doesn't it?..
The way it was before in FDM5, we could select several files and apply to enable or disable seeding.
Yes, but it was not me who made the decision.
Anyway, you can still use "Start/Stop all seeding downloads" menu.

Thanks for answering Alex.. But why not make it the way it was in FDM 5? it was already working great.. that was not a broken feature.

For me the usefulness of Sort By Status is obvious. And the only possible way to order things by default. We would want currently "downloading" files at the top, then "queued" or "paused" files in second/third, and then "downloaded" files after. It seems to me like the natural order of things. At some point there would only be "downloaded" files when all jobs are completed. But by having priority first over "downloading", and then for "queued" or "paused" after that, we would always know at the top we have jobs currently in progress, or pending jobs. I don't particularly see the usefulness of other ways of sorting, unless of course, to find specific files by name or date. Anyway. I appreciate your consideration.

Please consider adding two options that were available in FDM 5:

Enable/disable seeding
Force reannounce

I don't understand why were they removed. They're quite useful.

I'm thrilled that the Sort By Status was reinstated. However, this feature still works better in FDM 5, where currently downloading items have priority over queued items. In FDM 6 is the other way around: Queued items appear first.. but why?

johnlgalt wrote:It was just released as free, according to the Phoronix article

Hello,
Thanks for letting me know. However, I don't see it released, and neither their online installer does. It seems, it was released in a source code only form, no binaries. I'm not happy with this...
Anyway, are there any real pros in updating FDM to Qt 5.15.6 ?

Now that's odd. But you're spot on.

From the Phoronix post, this link https://lists.qt-project.org/pipermail/ ... 42937.html shows both src and Py source:

src: https://download.qt.io/official_release ... 15/5.15.6/

Py Source: https://download.qt.io/official_release ... .15.6-src/

I see no binaries listed anywhere. Ugh.

And overall changelog from the QT blog is here: https://www.qt.io/blog/qt-5.15-released

Now, in reading the Phoronix forum post for this article, it was mentioned that QT is behind on patching QT 5, and KDE has some superior (at least that is how it sounded) patches in QT 5 that have already been adopted by certain Linux distros (also how it sounded).

I cannot verify any of this, as I don't actually do anything with QT (other than use FDM and KeepAssXC apps on Windows).
