Close your browser.
Go to FDM menu Options | Settings | Downloads | Monitoring and add FDM to the browser context menu. If the option is already checked, turn it off and on again.
You should also click there the "Customize..." button and check what options for the context menu are selected.

Now I'm pretty sure the problem is in background tasks (defragmenting, antivirus scanning etc.) that are scheduled to run by night. It seems that you download huge files (ISO images, compressed installers etc.) and don't change AV settings to not scan them.

Choose proper macro for download folder in download or group properties.
