Pre-download queue to avoid "requesting download info" interface lock

Postby jungle_mole » Sun Jan 22, 2017 6:11 am

hi, this forum seems more lively place for thing like this, so i'll duplicate my suggestion here
http://freedownloadmanager.idea.informe ... ?ia=104615

There are times when many Youtube videos (or just files) are downloaded at once.
So waiting "requesting download info" to go away when link is being processed becomes annoying quickly (esp., it can be 5-15 sec), because you can't add another download, until previous had been fully started (also you have to choose directory and quality and press start download right away to unlock an interface for accepting new download)
Still, the main time consuming factor is this download info wait time in conjunction with it locking the ability to add another download.

So I have two suggestions, one is simple, another is cool.

1. Just put all added downloads in internal queue, without graphical representation. So user could add several downloads by clicking in browser or dragging link from browser to FDM. While in queue, their dowanload information is being resolved in background. Then user just quickly presses "download", since he is now not obligated to wait "requesting download info" timer.
(also please check http://freedownloadmanager.idea.informe ... ?ia=104612 as it is relevant in a sense of accelerating download of number of links)

2. Add button to main interface, that opens additional small queue window (like section of main, at bottom or at side), where there is a queue of added (but not "processed") download links. Links can be dragged and dropped there and to main interface, or clicked in browser.
Window has following controls:
checkboxes:
"don't add duplicates", "remain in background" (user clicks links and they are silently added to the list)
buttons:
"download next" -- opens standart download dialog for next link
"download without dialog" -- downloads next file with settings of previous similar download (file/youtube/etc)
"enqueue links" -- user pastes a list of links that are added to queue. ctrl+v when dialog opened is nice feature too.
enqueued links can be chosen just like downloads in main window so actions could be applied to groups of links. good in case "download without dialog"
button to remove links from queue.
