Also please write to support with the subject "[FDM 2.3 BETA 6] No fum bug". You may help us to understand the reason.
hm, today I redownloaded the beta (third time overall) and installed it over my old version (not even clean install). and: now it works!! I don't know what I've done differently?! I hope that my installer was currupt, but I'll do some testing and report back if I can reproduce my problem.

The reason was that the Free Download Manager was not able to find Free Upload Manager components. We can't understand why.

Thank You for the great download manager! The program is perfect except one moment: it can't work with FTP servers through Squid-proxy, although others work fine
Please, examine this feature. It's very inconveniently to run another manager...

Just installed on Vista Ultimate x86.
I did not close my browser window that was open during install (I was not asked to close anything).
After getting errors I did close the browser window and re-opened it, still got errors.
I am trying to download from this page:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... wcase.aspx
If I click a link, or I right click and select download with FDM, I get one of two errors:
"Free Download Manager not properly installed! Please reinstall Free Download Manager"
Or
"Free Download Manager is not properly installed! Please reinstall Free Download Manager or try to reboot your PC. Error code: 0x80080005"
When I click a link I can see that the FDM window gets activated, but it does nothing. IE then waits for a few seconds without responding, then the error message shows in IE.
Any ideas?
Regards
P.

(I was the previous guest poster)
I followed the error message's advice, rebooted, and now FDM seems to work.
I would recommend that the install tells users to shutdown IE or do whatever to prevent what caused FDM not to work without a reboot (a logoff and logon would probably have worked as well).
Or that FDM just works without requiring any reboots or logouts or IE shutdowns.

Recommendation:
On Vista set the default groups to match the current user's profile home folder and use the default Vista directories:
Other = Downloads
Software = Downloads
Video = Videos
Music = Music
Add: Picture = Pictures

I also had startup crash when I upgraded. I did a complete uninstall, then reinstall beta. The program started up fine.
