Could you explain, why are you installing outdated versions of Firefox and FDM, please?
Could you provide your software (Windows, Firefox, FDM) version numbers/builds, as it is required by the reporting rules, please?

Could you please add an option to deselect browser add-ons/plugins when installing FDM?

After years of using FDM, i got really tired of after new FF version, the FDM plugin is disabled and you have to work around it.

I'm going back to another download manager like Flashget.

I really like FDM, but this issue is really starting to get on my nerves. This plugin is broken after each Firefox Update. What I don't understand is that all my numerous other plugins work fine after each Firefox Update. It is only the FDM plugin that stops working?

Devs, is there no way that this can be fixed? Please? :(

Hi, I think I have found a temporary "workaround" mentioned in another Topic (Copy of Full Post below as probably more appropriate in this Topic).
I am also using FF 40 It is strange to me that FDM Plugin seems particularly vulnerable to FF Beta releases where others (I have found 3) continue to work (or work in the main). The Dev. Team have already said to a previous post by me elsewhere, they are not keen to rush to fix for FF BETAs because Mozilla makes changes that sometimes stop FDM plug-in between builds of the same Beta

My workaround which in TWO days so FAR has caused no negative issues (except a very minor one mentioned below) Hope it helps:

------ My post----
[Alex wrote (in Firefox 38.0.5 and 39 crashes on exit Topic)
Fixed in 1.7.5.4 version of extension. Just restart your FDM to update your extension to this version.

Thanks Alex :D
I have installed the new FDM Plug-in 1.7.5.4.
EDIT regarding Firefox 40 BETA ONLY: Just to let you know the latest plugin does not work with FF40 Beta (which I am currently using), because Firefox has automatically disabled it saying it cannot be verified. I mentioned the same issue in another post several days ago regarding the previous FDM Plugin).
I will continue to use my workaround (Flashgot) mentioned below, unless Alex, you say I should not for some reason

May I ask 3 questions (if you have the time).

Background
Not being able to use FDM Plugin with 40 beta or 39 Release until this new FDM Plugin I searched for a temporary solutions. A couple of hours ago found a signed extension Flashgot (not Flashget) which seemed to be working perfectly as a FDM Plugin replacement or the last few hours for me.
I was allowed to try downloading something (having already told Flashgot hat I had nominated FDM as my chosen Download Manager. It stated it supports FDM amongst many others) and my non video downloads were working as they normally do with the FDM Plugin (essentially Flashgot's involvement was hidden). Essentially I clicked to download something and the FDM download pop-up appeared as usual (the only shortcoming seemed to be if I cancelled using FDM to download, then unlike FDM I was not offered the default Firefox downloader.

Flashgot ALSO integrated simply with FDM for downloading Videos. (I had FDM video monitoring off -was being ignored anyway as FDM plug-in was disabled).

MY question(s) Alex.

1) IF FDM plug-in goes down again due to another FF change is there any downside you are aware of, to Users using Flashgot as FDM Plugin substitute until you and your team are able to fix the official FDM plug-in.

2) Is there a reason why FDM Plug-ins seem more vulnerable to FF changes than other add-ons, that can in future be avoided.

3) Will your Team be ahead of the game and get your Plugin FF Extension Signed or will the new Plugin go down when FF 40 hits release.

Many Thanks, Alex :)

--- End of my post ----

EDIT 10/07/15: I was curious, so I downloaded Firefox 40.0b2 (X64 version) to see if the Flashgot plug-in would also work with it. I had already noted earlier that FDM Plug-ins do not work with FF X64 (confirmed by FDM Dev.)

After attempting to download from 3 sites (incl. YouTube via its toolbar icon) it seems that the Flashgot works with FF 40.0b2 (x64) (as it does with FF x32).

the context menu in Firefox 40 with FDM 3.9.6 1614 does not show all the options.

It only shows the one 'Download with Free Download Manager' option not the Download All, Download Select etc.

These choice are all still available in IE.

PS. Nice if you'd truncate Free Download Manager to FDM in these menus.

The context menu in the new Firefox plugin is really contextual now.

BKSteve wrote:It only shows the one 'Download with Free Download Manager' option not the Download All, Download Select etc.
It's because you have clicked some link. Click a free place and you will see "Download all...", select some area and you will see "Download selected...".

To me it's better solution then using cascade menu to show all options including inactive ones. If you want to learn all possible options you can find them in FDM settings.

You can do it on your own - just edit *.lng file for a language you need.

Hello,

Please provide some details on how to reproduce the problem. I.e. what do you do in the browser when this happens? What steps leads to this error message?

FDM 3.9.6 build 1614 works OK with Firefox 40 - with some features still missing as it's described here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17267

Don't cry, read the FDM FAQ about Firefox troubleshooting instead, please.
Yes, it's really annoying to see people still ignoring suggestions from my signature.
