More specific scheduling options and queuing

Hi guys,

Just started using FDM on macOS and I'm loving it! Being able to unify all of my various downloading services into one app is wonderful (especially because I'm from South Africa and our internet isn't the greatest.) It makes a big difference to me to be able to target my bandwidth into 1 file at a time and leave things downloading (and also not have to worry about taking up all of the bandwidth when my roommate is online.)

There are however two things which I think would take this app to the next level:

1. The ability to set certain times for certain download profiles. Some apps do this by saying "restrict downloads between x and y," but honestly I think having the option to look at a graph of the week (like in uTorrent) means that one will not need to change that setting nearly as often. I've used apps with both options and I much prefer a more granular approach. With that being said, I would greatly appreciate any type of timed scheduler.

2. Predictable queuing. I understand there is a priority that can be set which affects which files get downloaded when, but I have already found myself in a situation where I have 20 downloads queued with say 8 of those being "high priority." But I am then unable to choose which will download first (again, like we have with most other p2p apps.) If the app can already control which files get downloaded when, I think it would be very useful if users had an indication of the precise order in which the files are going to be downloaded and up/down buttons for changing that order.

Thanks and keep up the good work

Dear User!

Could you kindly indicate the OS, FDM version number and browsers you're running?

Dear User!

1. The latest version has a scheduler. You can schedule now the downloads.
2. The feature is on our to-do list.

Clive

Great download manager FDM is.

Please explain how to use
wildcards (* or ?) and
date formats (YYYY, MM, DD)
in the creation of (scheduled) downloads.

Also, how does one export/import downloads with full recurring schedule?

One more thing, is there a chance the scheduled time could be in a column in the Downloads tab? And when clicked one could adjust the time directly, while double click could open the scheduler window? Just a thought.

Thank you!

I was expecting the scheduler to be in the settings, like in previous versions. It's not - it's a checkbox in the download pop-up when you add a new download. While I preferred the location in settings, I'm sure I can adapt to this. What I would like, however, is a setting to make using the scheduler the default, as opposed to having to check the box each time.

Version 5.1.37

Hello,
Up/down buttons already exists in FDM6. But you need to enable them in Options.
