I´m a Computer systems Engineer. Bachelors in computer Sciences at the University of Westminster-London. I currently work as functional consultant in Spain. I´ve realised many computing translations of whole ERP´s. Example of them: Global Fashion ERP, brasilian Aplication. I lived in England for 10 years where I acquired a native speaking and perfect reading and writing. As for my spanish, I now live in spain and have been working there for the last 7years.

Dear Sirs:

I have been working with your translations for a week, from english to spanish and have surged some doubts that I would like to clarify:

Apparently the value in US$ assigned to each translation does not have a fixed rule. In the announcement on the Web page in which you ask for translators, is mentioned a payment of US$ 5 by each 1800 characters including the spaces …

That number, (US$ 5.00/1800) corresponds to characters in English or Spanish? I ask it because in Spanish the number of characters is greater in general terms in a 15% more than in English.

If I observe the values that have been assigned to me by each translation they are absolutely variable and have no relation with the offered value of US$ 5 by each 1800 characters. Can you clarify this issue? because in average, taking into account the number of characters in English that I have translated, (40 programs) the valorized thing gives an average of US$ 4.00 by every 1800 chars in English, with maximum in 5.50 US$ and minimum in US$ 2.31… I do not understand this difference.

In your web page you also mention the possibility that the value of US$ 5.00 could become US$ 7.00 under certain conditions. Which are those conditions?

I will be great if you have time to clarify these doubts.

well, i have great experience translating words and phrases to spanish, i`m good spanish speaker (my born language) but i enjoy the etc. etc. of this many gentle people trying to impress with nice english. im ashamed. (snif)

La tarifa por cuartilla y media debería ser de 30 dólares, no de 7 y menos de 5. Si trabajan para ellos están perjudicando al gremio de traductores de toda América latina. ¡Qué verguenza!

1800 caracteres no es cuartilla y media... es más, no llega ni a cuartilla completa. Y un promedio de 15 a 20 dólares la hora de trabajo me parece a mí un salario bastante respetable (en especial en América Latina).

No veo en qué se pueda perjudicar "el gremio" si el sol brilla para todos y hay libre competencia, oferta y demanda... ¿O es que "el gremio" nos da de comer? Avísame que ahí sí me anoto...
