Video/Audio merge not happening here with the new version 1521 too.
I tried 480p for both links.
FDM is downloading seperate video & audio file.
To download videos, is it required that the option "start download automatically (after silent creation)" to be enabled?
What is wrong with automatic start? How can you expect automatic merge without automatic start?
What is wrong with manual start in a specific order?
Do you think download links are permanent?
Do you think you can restart, resume or repeat download-and-merge just starting stopped downloads from the download list any time and any day after FDM restart?
Do you want to propose another download-and-merge method?
I am simply trying to download videos the way fdm offers video downloads.
I tried downloading through fdm video download bar i.e played the video & selected download on the fdm bar, got all the format, selected 480p & audio was auto selected & got a window about that, selected OK, download started & completed. But the file are seperate i.e video & audio file.
The same result I get when I try through rightclick option.
About the "start download automatically (after silent creation)"
I dont know what this option does. Plzz can you tell me?
But in the current stable version installed on my system, I keep it disabled.
And disabling it doesn't make any difference i.e the downloads works as they work in fdm default settings.
So I dont know if merging the videos & downloading single video/audio file requires this option to be enabled in this version?
Coz in the stable version installed on my system, I have disabled the option, and no probs downloading files & videos too.
And "start download automatically (after silent creation)" enabled too, downloaded files are seperate i.e video & audio file.

thank you
btw about this...
Code: Select all
[*] Project compiled using Microsoft Visual Studio 2013. Windows XP SP3 or higher is required.
this means that also a CPU with SSE2 is required ? because as I know VS2013 have it enabled by default for compiler.
Re: FDM 3.9.5 Release Candidate
I'm afraid you don't understand my English or did something wrong, so here's visual tutorial for dummies.Guest wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uh0eWc6wmv0
And "start download automatically (after silent creation)" enabled too, downloaded files are seperate i.e video & audio file.
Software used
* Windows XP SP3 fully updated (or newer); no antivirus, antimalware or other shell extension set to monitor download folder. Such programs can block access to downloaded files, f.e antivirus scanning files or multimedia shell extension creating thumbnails from videos and pictures.
* Firefox 36.0.1; no possibly conflicting or blocking add-ons enabled or installed (Flashblock, Adblock, Flashgot, SaveFrom.net, Youtube downloader etc.)
* FDM 3.9.5 build 1521 (current) with mostly default setup:
- default download folder C:\Downloads with full rights granted for current Windows user;
- enabled "Start download automatically (after silent creation)" option;
- enabled "Set the date of a file identical to the date specified by the server" option.
* Media player (VLC, MPC-HC etc.) that supports formats used in MP4 and FLV files. Windows Media Player may require installing additional codec pack (H.264 - MPEG AVC video and MPEG AAC audio codecs in this case).
Automatic download and merge from Youtube
1. Open Firefox and go to the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uh0eWc6wmv0
2. Click "Download with FDM" button. You should see a download window with media list. Change default selection from the best available video (1080p) to some smaller one (480p) for tests. You may be warned, that the video file must be downloaded and merged with the proper audio stream. The final selection should look like that:
3. Click OK and you're done. You can go to the download folder (C:\Downloads\Video by default) and see the picture like that:
Note the timestamps for both files (in blue rectangle). The larger one, tagged as [MP4 480p], has current timestamp because it is merged from video and audio streams on the disk. The smaller file, tagged as [MP4 Audio] contains only audio stream and has some past imestamp copied from the server.
Manual download and merge from Youtube
Software used as listed above, but "Start download automatically (after silent creation)" option in FDM is disabled (no matter for what - wise or stupid - reason).
1. 2. Execute step 1. and 2. as listed above.
3. Click OK and open main FDM window. You should see two stopped download, containing separate video and audio streams.
4. Select the audio stream (at the bottom) first and start download. Soon you will see picture like that:
5. Select the video stream (the upper one) now and start download.
- During download you should see picture like that:
Note the video stream size (2,104,799 B KB in red rectangle).
- When the download is finished, FDM should automatically start merging and finally you should see picture like that:
Note the final video file size (2,624,365 B in red rectangle). It should be larger than before merge and equal to the size of the file shown by Windows Explorer on the second picture above (2 563 KB in red rectangle).

Do you know anybody using Windows XP on PC with Pentium III, Athlon or older CPU and capable to watch H.263/H.264 (FLV/MP4) video?Guest wrote:this means that also a CPU with SSE2 is required ? because as I know VS2013 have it enabled by default for compiler.Code: Select all

Re: FDM 3.9.5 Release Candidate
It seems I've been too fast. I've noticed missing toolbar and tabbar in IE8 with FDM build 1519, build 1521 hasn't been tested yet.Usher wrote:It seems FDM 3.9.5 build 1519 has no problems with Youtube monitoring and flash video download in Internet Explorer. No crashes, no hanging IE processes, no missing toolbar and tab bar after reopening IE.
And this bug still exists in FDM build 1521.Usher wrote:Firefox extension seems to stay untouched. Try to do as follows:
- open some Youtube page in Firefox, f.e. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uh0eWc6wmv0
- click "Download with FDM" button - you should see picture like that
- click "Cancel" button and go to some video listed on the right, f.e "Pixar's 'Lava' Preview - Disney•Pixar Short Film - Official | HD"
- on the new page click "Download with FDM" button once again and you will see... old download window once again.
As you see, Firefox extension caches Youtube download links and doesn't refresh them when you go to any new Youtube page.

Re: FDM 3.9.5 Release Candidate
Everything happens as you have mentioned except merge.
Merge doesn't happen here.

Everything? Do you use Windows XP SP3?Guest wrote:Everything happens as you have mentioned except merge.

Have you configured or turned off other software as described in the tutorial?
Have you tested automatic download and merge?
Have you tested FDM with default configuration on a new Windows user account?

in Pentium III or first Athlon CPUs maybe no, but in Socket A CPUs as Athlon XP or Sempron, you can perfectly watch these videos at 720/1080p if you have a good videocard (128/256mb).
btw, XP users will also have to install this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=40784
Re: FDM 3.9.5 Release Candidate
Where he writes the default location of the downloaded files?
Many programs cleaning system removes the default path for saving files.
I would like to add a file to the exception, but I can not locate the file holding the record for the default folder.

Can you see the group tree on the left pane in main FDM window? Can you right click "All downloads" group and see the context menu options? Can you do the same with other groups?Super wrote:Where he writes the default location of the downloaded files?

All groups and their locations are saved in groups.sav file. You can find more details in older topics about groups in FDM.

Re: FDM 3.9.5 Release Candidate
Ok, Thanks.
C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Free Download Manager
I found and I think that these settings should be stored where the rest. Currently, I do not know why cleaning programs treat it as junk.
