FDM 3.9.4
Re: FDM 3.9.4
I'm disappointed (who cares, I know), that I did not get a direct answer. But at least the svn repository was updated, and I feel like my question played some role for this to happen. Thanks for that.
Re: FDM 3.9.4
I might have thanked too early (once again, nobody cares, right?). Missing vmsChromeExtensionInstaller prevents compilation.
Re: FDM 3.9.4
Whoever updated the repository, thank you. Now everything compiles and works.
Re: FDM 3.9.4
I see a lot of posts about problems with the FDM plugin. I have never installed it and use Flashgot instead with zero problems when FDM is updated. I get the impression the the FDM plugin is problematic in this area, so what's the advantage of using the FDM plugin?
Re: FDM 3.9.4
FDM plugin is not compatable with Firefox 30.0 .................plzzzzzzzzzzzzz update plugin
Re: FDM 3.9.4
Your FDM install is outdated. Firefox 30 works with current FDM (build 1472, FDM plugin for Firefox 1.6.0.7). Do always follow the reporting rules, please, otherwise your complaints will be ignored.Guest wrote:FDM plugin is not compatable with Firefox 30.0 .................plzzzzzzzzzzzzz update plugin

Re: FDM 3.9.4
I am on nightly build of Fire Fox version 33.0a1 and it works just fine.
Re: FDM 3.9.4
Sometimes click the download link in firefox, browser will stop responding.
After several seconds, it prompt
script chrome://browser/content/browser.js:13012
Whatever I choose, waitting for or stop script, browser will not respond and prompt above again.
But when I kill the process of fdm, browser can be operated.

Re: FDM 3.9.4
Create a new Firefox user profile, run Firefox using that profile, turn off other Firefox extensions and try once again. You can also stop your antivirus software (internet security suite) real time monitoring before testing.yookee wrote:Sometimes click the download link in firefox, browser will stop responding.
Note that noone can confirm your observations if you don't provide links to such problematic downloads.

FDM 3.9.4: persistent bugs
Hi, thanks for making the best download-manager there is. Unfortunately there are still some old and persistent bugs even in the latest release.
1. Scheduled tasks are not always run which makes the scheduler unreliable. In order to re-activate an already enabled task, I have to make changes to the task (e.g. change the time and then change it back!). Then something happens (I don't know, like a crash or sudden exit?!) which makes the task unreliable again.
2. Decreasing "maximum number of running downloads" sometimes disables a running download instead of switching it to the waiting state!
3. Queue management is sometimes unreliable. I mean, sometimes, I have a running download at certain queue position, then the next few ones are in the waiting state and the next one is running! It just doesn't make sense. Perhaps the visual ordering (list or queue) in the UI and the program's internal ordering in the queue data structure are not in sync.
4. Sometimes when FDM over-downloads (e.g. downloading 102 MB for a 100 MB file), because of say transmission errors or something, the "Time remaining" column shows some garbage astronomical number which is perhaps a negative number (100-102/speed) shown as an unsigned number! Perhaps the actual completed and correct bytes need to be taken into account instead of just the number of downloaded bytes.
That's all for now!
Thanks.

Re: FDM 3.9.4
I noticed that the installer is now signed by softdeluxe. It was the first time I saw that. Why is that?
Are they behind FDM?

Re: FDM 3.9.4
It is not the first silent update, and not the last one, I'm afraid.drkdfndr wrote:I noticed that the installer is now signed by softdeluxe. It was the first time I saw that.
Some users reported problems with unsigned installer and unsigned plugin libraries like blocking by antivirus (internet security) software or disallowing install by corporate security policy. Read "error! update is not signed by freedownloadmanager.org" topic and older topics about hashes, checksums or certificates.drkdfndr wrote:Why is that? Are they behind FDM?
Note that currently only installer is signed with certificate and plugin libraries still aren't so FDM still may be reported as malware by some security software when installing browser monitoring.
