I completly uninstalled Firefox because a problem was there.
I see a new version of firefox 21.0 is on the firefox website.
I download the new version and install it. All addons are lost.
I need the Free Download Manager Plugin !!!
First, i installed free download manager 3.9.2 build 1303 across the exist version 3.9.2 build 1303, but the free download manager plugin ist not installed.
Second, i uninstalled free download manger 3.9.2 build 1303 and after this i installed the same version new, but the free download manger plugin ist not installed.
Third, i look on firefox addons:
https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/a ... er-plugin/
i find Free Download Manager plugin 1.5.7.6, but its not available for firefox version 21.0.
:(
Please help me, i don't know how to install a working free download manager plugin for firefox 21.0

If you'd like to keep addons in firefox's installdir. You'll have to move firefox\extensions to firefox\browser\extensions

FDM 3.9.2 installer is updated to support Firefox 22-24.
Typically it's not required for users to update FDM. It will update Firefox extension automatically in 3 days approximately.

Upon seeing the above I uninstalled Firefox 21 Release and installed Firefox 22.0 BETA 3 with Firefox Setup 22.0b3.exe ((downloaded via FileHippo download).
I then downloaded & installed the updated 3.9.2 FDM

Observations: FDM happily appears to now working as normally with Firefox 22 Beta 3.
1) I noted in Firefox Addons that the the FDM plugin has now updated (from 1.5.7.9) to 1.5.8
2) I noted (on a quick test) that FDM works as normal with Firefox22 Beta 3. Namely, when attempting normal downloads the FDM "Add download" window is triggered as usual/expected.
AND
3) In YouTube the "Download with FDM" button now appears with the Video and operates as usual/expected

Thanks for the FDM adjustment(s) to support FF 22-24. I am now back on the Firefox Beta Channel.

Regards, Dave

Okay, the FDM FireFox plugin works now but the video "Download It" button still doesn't work. Am I going to have to reinstall FDM? I'd like that as the last option, if at all possible.

I meant to say that the "Download It" button doesn't show up on top (or bottom) of the streaming video (say, from Youtube).

I'd love for a way to have the plugin developed so that I can either force it to be compatible with the latest nightly builds, or else be able to compile my own with the correct parameters to allow compatibility with the comm-central (aka nightly) builds of Fx.

If that could happen, I'd easily be able to host it as an unofficial plugin for users like me that are always on the nightly bleeding edge through my MediaFire account.

Usher, would you mind posting the link to the FDM FAQ in your signature (or else make the word FAQ clickable to hte FDM FAQ thread)? I've been a long time FDM user and I just spent 10 minutes looking for it b/c I kept opening the *board* software FAQ instead of the actual FDM FAQ...

I think it would help a lot of new users in the long run since they would see your request to read hte FDM FAQ and then ht link to said FAQ right there as well.

I'm adding it to my signature as well, even though I'm rarely here and almost never actually help anyone - mostly as a reminder to me! :P

I have already explained why FDM plugin should NOT be distributed as a standalone download. Below are two more reasons:
* Mozilla developers frequently introduce changes in add-ons support, so you can't be sure that the current solution will work with the newest Firefox unstable versions.
* Normal users ignore warnings that some solutions are intended for advanced users only and that they should always clearly report bugs in such cases.

So if you want to maintain any unofficial version you should be prepared to help in troubleshooting ALL problems with Gecko-powered browsers reported here. Are you ready?

Maybe some day in the future, after updating most info in the FDM FAQ. For now linking to FAQ may cause too many complaints like "why are you linking to such incomplete and outdated junk here?" So would you mind helping to update the FAQ, please?
Currently "FDM FAQ" topic is marked as sticky and it seems to be visible even for lusers, I think.
