When I frequently create downloads, I must close the main interface frequently.
The "New Download" interface is sufficient, I don't know why the main interface must be displayed. Can't it stay in the background?

Would you like that changed? By leaving the "New Download" interface on top all the time?

When creating a "new download", the main interface is not required.
As shown in the image below, every time I have to close the main interface that doesn't work at all.

+1 for not always showing the main interface (or, even better, allowing the user to set whether the main interface shows or not, and best of all, allow the user to set it to show always, never show, and let user pick from the new download dialog).

The last (best of all method) could be accomplished by having a check box to show main interface on the new DL dialog, which can be a one time override of the main setting.

Here is how I envision it:

* I select a DL to add to FDM
* I get the requisite New DL dialog.
* There is a checkbox there that follows the setting in the main panel (checked if I have the setting to show the main interface enabled, and unchecked if I have the main setting disabled). By default, this checkbox *always* follows the setting.
* Before clicking the download button to actually DL the file I can change the setting of the checkbox - IOW, if I have the setting enabled to show main interface, I can then, in the New DL dialog, uncheck the box, and for this download, the main interface will not show during downloading or after the download completes. Vice versa - if I have the main setting disabled, then I can check the box to show the main interface during / after DL. Again, this would be for this DL only, upon adding another file to DL to FDM, the checkbox reverts to the natural state (i.e. corresponding to the setting).

That would cover pretty much 95% (by my estimate) of user scenarios.

Wow, thanks for that. I'll add it to the list of improvements for the devs.

I should also add that this would also entail separating the Main UI from the New Download dialog, as the main UI pops up with the New Download dialog, not after, at least currently on 6.1 Alpha it does.
