FDM on linux - context menu
FDM on linux - context menu
I've installed FDM on linux with the extension however FDM does not appear on the context menu when you right-click using firefox or chrome. Is there a way to fix that?

What FDM build? What Linux distribution and version?

FDM 6.16.2 flatpak
Linux mint 20.3
Re: FDM on linux - context menu
Does your FDM run at all? I cannot start FDM v6.16.2 on my old Linux Mint 18.3. Old FDM v6.15.3 runs without problems.
You can see " Fixed: Linux: FDM could not start under Ubuntu 22.04" in changelog, but it looks like incomplete fix.
However, I do install only deb packages, so there may be also a bug in flatpak. Have you got any problem with older FDM flatpak packages?

fdm works, flatpak installed from the software store. I did not try an older version because i wanted to see if i could get fdm to work with linux. Flatpak and deb package yield the same result. Without the context menu option, i don't see a way to use the HLS capture option on linux?
Usher, have you tried upgrading to 20.3? 18.3 has been discontinued.
Re: FDM on linux - context menu
does fdm caught the download though if youre not using context menu?

No, i have enabled access urls from the extension using chrome but it doesn't work. i have to use copy link from the browser then use the FDM new download dialog box to start the download. i am not sure why the developers added fdm to linux when fdm doesn't fully work as it does on windows???
Re: FDM on linux - context menu
welp try disable and reenabled the addon from browser page then? had same issue with other addon in the past after a browser crash, that solve it.
Re: FDM on linux - context menu
I should upgrade the hardware first. This Thinkpad works so I don't fix it. My Iconia tablet with Android 8.1 also works...Avguser wrote:Usher, have you tried upgrading to 20.3? 18.3 has been discontinued.
And finally, FDM has no new old features ported from the classic FDM 3.x so I don't care.

Re: FDM on linux - context menu
I figured out why it's not working, when i go to browser integration within preferences i noticed that it says firefox and chrome are not installed but i don't know why? They both are installed.
Re: FDM on linux - context menu
can you try test on clean new user acc (for easier testing, no need to mess with the current one).
try test both deb & flatpak version for both browser and fdm. could be custom modification that you made to your current user acc?, it does seem irregular on your end. maybe something to do with installation path/directory? idk, couldnt hurt to try.

Re: FDM on linux - context menu
or maybe it just flatpak ver issue(since it isnt officialy supported).
tried on a vm (ubuntu 20), flatpak fdm doesnt detect any browser. meanwhile fdm extension on flatpak firefox also doesnt have context menu & if i press icon on addressbar, it just say "loading" instead of normal entry like "pause to catch" or "dont catch".
deb ver of fdm works normally though, obviously paired with deb ver of browser also.
problem solved?

Re: FDM on linux - context menu
after further testing it seem as follow :
deb fdm can download & communicate with deb browser but not with flatpak browser (because of flatpak technology? containerization/sandbox)
flatpak fdm cant download & communicate with any browser be it deb or flatpak ver(same reason as above?).
sorry for double/triple post.

Re: FDM on linux - context menu
fixed, I had to uninstall the flatpak twice and re-install the deb package twice before it started working as it should.
