low end spec pc/laptop cpu usage
low end spec pc/laptop cpu usage
i have pentium on both pc/laptop, i notice that last few release make fdm use 100% of cpu usage when fdm querying info & installing update.
my concern is while fdm use 100% cpu, it doesnt really make any difference from before it use that much.
installing update is still slow i rather just clean install rather than auto updating now.
querying info is fine though, it instant from pretty much everywhere except youtube, youtube take 5-7 second before it done.
the problem is when it update.

Hello,
Recently we've enabled software-only rendering on some configurations (to prevent random crashes).
It seems that FDM has detected that your system can be potentially not enough stable for its normal work, so it has enabled software-only mode.
In this mode FDM uses only your CPU to render its interface. That's why it can consume more resources from your CPU.
In case you need it, we can think of some option which will allow you to forcibly turn off this software-only mode.

There should be an obvious option "Use hardware acceleration", I think.Alex wrote:In case you need it, we can think of some option which will allow you to forcibly turn off this software-only mode.

Re: low end spec pc/laptop cpu usage
Until a working fix is developed to force enable / force disable 'software only' mode - is there a way to manually check this right now?

Hello,
Sorry, there is no way for now.
In the next update it should be possible to use QT_OPENGL environment variable.
