So FF60.01
FDM 5.1.36.7160
Ext 3.0.12

Started downloading random stuff. Like this morning i opened firefox and it randomly cpatured a download photo.jpg which was the logo for the young turks. captured it as soon as i opened FF.

And i swear it's not capturing all the downloads.

Feels a lot like when FF56 first came out.

ETA - appears to be something to do with youtube. the photo.jpg was tyt's logo for youtube, and I just opened the comedy central uk youtube page and it downloaded another photo (1).jpg

FDM 5.1.37.7528
Ext 3.0.24

Don't know what you've done, but it's made it worse. downloading something called 0.jpg now.

the last working extension is 3.0.6. Stick to that one if you want the random downloads to stop. Plus it still works with FDM v3.9.
Versions after 3.0.11 don't work with v3.9, which is a BIG PROBLEM, since FDM v5.x is a piece of crap.

I don't think it's appropriate to call something a piece of crap on their own forum.

Please refrain from name-calling.
The issues with the extension are being addressed.

Is there any update on this?

It's been two weeks since you last commented, and 4 weeks or more since it started. I can't understand what is happening?

I know It might sound a little extreme, but I have my reasons. FDM5 just has TOO MANY problems.

For example:

The new "modern" metro-like interfrace is just hideous.
It uses A LOT more RAM than v3.9x

There's no option for auto-cleaning the finished downloads.
IT does NOT get the file dates from the servers, no matter how you configure it.
It is not possible to change the user agent.
There are no options for mirror management.
You can not import a list of URLs from a file (option just doesn't exist)
There's no progress window for every download. You have to guess what's happening with your download.

And some more that I just forgot right now.

That's why I prefer v3.9x, but the new extension is completely useless. First, it downloads random junk when you open the browser (or at any other random time, actually), second, there are A LOT of sites where it doesn't catch clicks and, most importantly, now it doesn't even work with fdm 3.9x.

I really can't understand what in the world compelled you to create FDM5, you had AN EXCELLENT product in FDM3. FDM5 is ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE worse than FDM3. All that was neede was a better extension.

Like I've reported a few times before, I CAN NOT DOWNLOAD from thinkbroadband.com. Switching to another DM, like IDM, for example, works perfectly EVERY SINGLE TIME. So your answer that the site might be blocking my IP because of too many attempts or whatever is JUST NOT TRUE.

Could you stop complaining, please? Show that you can think as a real advanced user rather than a lamer. Report facts, not opinions, for the start just answer: Did you follow my previous hints? What did you do and what were the results?

Once again - how to make testing helpful:
* Use FDM 3.9.7 with extension 3.0.11 and Firefox 52 ESR (it's 52.8.1 now) or FDM 3.9.7 with extension 3.0.6 and the newest Firefox stable build. Make sure that you are really using the proper software combination.
* In FDM - turn off all options for auto-update, set User Agent copied from your Firefox, limit connection number per server in all traffic usage modes to max. 4 (f.e. 1 in low mode, 2 in medium mode, 4 in high mode), turn off Firefox monitoring, restart FDM.
* Turn off Firefox monitoring in other download managers, then turn off those managers (or even uninstall them).
* Create a new Firefox user profile, run Firefox with this profile and turn off all the extensions. Close Firefox, turn on Firefox monitoring in FDM, run Firefox with a new profile once again and turn on FDM extension. Make sure that it's the proper version and that other extensions are off.
* Exclude Firefox and FDM from antivirus (internet security) monitoring or turn off all the real-time internet/security monitoring options for tests (monitoring may seriously slow down connection when testing broadband performance).
* Do NOT use any proxy in both Firefox and FDM (proxy also may slow down connection).
* If possible, test your PC using connection provided by another ISP (f.e. go to a friend of yours) or use another PC (maybe your friend's one) to tests your connection.

As you see, you should use as clean testing environment as possible. You may even create a new Windows user account for tests.
Now if you want to be really helpful, do follow my suggestions, test thinkbroadband.com once again and report the results here, please. And follow the reporting rules as well, please.
