No. :(

Even if you disable extension compatibility, Firefox 6 or 7 recognizes FDM extension, but it does not work - Nothing happens when selecting items "Download with FDM" or "Download All with FDM".

Thanx for great Release.
Finally Firefox 5 support.

But doesn't work in Firefox 6 :(

Error: Components.classes['@freedownloadmanager.org/FDMForFirefox;1'] is undefined
Source File: chrome://fdm_ffext/content/fdm_ffextDM.js
Line: 7

Can you add FF 6 support too ?
It has already beta version and final version is going to be very soon.

The best Download Manager !

No one download manager cannot fix server-side or connection problems. You should start with checking your antivirus/firewall/internet security software settings or talking to your ISP.

I do not believe that this is a server side connection issue - this happens to me *every time* I am downloading a file larger than about 60 MB or so. I have to stop the download and restart the download. This never happened to me previously, until the original 3.5 beta builds, IIRC.

In past times, I've downloaded 2+ GB game demos without this occurring. Now, it occurs without fail. However, I've just been stopping and restarting the download, so I cannot say with certainty that this is across the board. I'll do more testing and I'll make some screen shots. If it is occurring across the board, I'll be back with more to report.

Should I enable logging for this testing as well?

Still have to use FlashGot, with the irritating 'feature' that puts the filename in the comment box (even if it already populates the filename in the filename box...)

bovirus wrote:The integration with IE/Firefox and Filesonic don't workks with FDM 3.8.1051.
Downlaod a 40 Kb file.

Guest wrote:Why is for Download Master (Internet Download Accelerator) or Mass Downloader native Firefox extension Mozilla's not fault? These extensions worked nice for Firefox 5-6-7.

I did not say it's bug. We can add support, but we have to do additional work every Firefox update. However Firefox can use existing version of extension. It just do not want to.

I had a feeling this was the case. I edit the .XPIs that I install all the time to force version compatibility without having to bother the developer because I know which addons will work. I then run add-on compatibility reporter to report addons that I know for a fact work with newer versions of Fx to the developers. However, I have yet to have this native in Fx since Fx 4 (back when it was the 3.4 beta - I'm sure you remember me moaning about it :P)

I have been 'testing' Firefox since Namoroka days, and they even sent me a FF4 beta team T shirt for later testing :P). If you give me an idea of what I need to do to force the compatibility of that plugin, I'll gladly do it on my own every time so I can get rid of the annoying FlashGot addon and use your native plugin.

If you'd like to keep it under wraps, Alex, feel free to PM me and I'll keep it to myself, too.

pingggponggg wrote:I am facing a problem when downloading a file using FDM 3.8 Beta. When i click the link to download something I get the maximized FDM window instead of add download window and the download do not begin.
My system Configurations:
Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1
Mozilla Fire Fox 5

FDM 3.8 BETA was working fine for few days after installation. The above prescribed problem is today onwards.
(I am using CCleaner 3.08.1475 ans occasionally run it to clean temp files. I think Ccleaner caused this problem but i am not sure.)

One of two things is happening: either:

  1. Firefox was started by a program that had administrator rights, or
  2. FDM was recently started by a process that had administrator rights and it was passed on to the program.

I have this happen to me all the time. Windows 7 has a nasty habit of not allowing elevated processes to pass information easily to other processes, even elevated ones. Thus, if Fx is running with admin privileges, it cannot pass info to FDM, which is not, and vice versa - if Fx is running with regular privileges and FDM has been started with admin rights, then Fx cannot pass the info on to FDM.

Short story - you need to manually close Fx / FDM when this happens (whichever one is running with admin rights) and then restart that app.

So you have 64 MB limit on NFTS? Well, it seems - your user profile in Windows is broken (damaged, corrupted etc.). With corrupted user profile you may have troubles with all your software, not only with FDM or Firefox. For example Outlook Express gives "There is not enough disk space" error message while trying to compact OE folders.
You can find many articles how to restore data from damaged user profile. After fixing the problem don't forget that you must take ownership of download folder and grant full permissions for your new user to that folder before running FDM.

Nope - because I can download using other DLMs / Direct DLs no problem. Only in FDM do I have the problem.

The only reason I am even aware of the problem was that I was attempting to DL various Ubuntu builds - and every one of them failed at 99% (but all the actual data was there). Then, yesterday, I DLd the JDK x86 and JDK x64 builds - same story.

However, you may have a point - it may, in fact, be something else that is profile related. It may also be that I've been updating FDM all this time - I'll try both clean installs and clean profiles and report back.

Also, I've found the plugin - but I do not think I can do anything with the .DLL file :P So, scratch that idea, I guess. Unless I can do something with VS10, which I have installed....)

In your Windows. Just press F3 and find tips.dat file.

The tips is not in my Windows (folder C:\Windows) but in FDM folder (C:%ProgramFiles%/Free Download Manager).

The tips.dat is text file that contain (now) 5 tips.
But it's unique for all languages without any realtion to GUI language.

Should be better to have (in language folder) a file like tips.eng.dat (for english), tips.ita.dat (for italian) and then the file will be sued both with language GUI file.

It downloads fine using both free and premium accounts. If not for you, see this topic:

Don't you think it will be better to post the detailed report as described here instead of posting this useless text? Your posts can't become more useful if you'll use big bold fonts.
