Hello, what is the version of your OS? The problem is caused by FDM periodically trying to get information about all the drives in your system. This information is required for proper processing of the downloads on removable disks.
Windows 10, and btw this bug happens even when you are not downloading anything.
this bug does not happens with v5.1.38.7312.
imho FDM should do it only when the user is selecting where is going to save download (to check which drives are available to be selected), but not each second, and neither when you are not downloading anything.

You'd like the limit to be removed?

Hello,
Is there a guarantee that a drive will always be mounted at the same point in all the possible cases (including all platforms we support)? I don't think so. And thus this leads us to a necessity to check all the drives. We will think how to optimize this so we will not check A: drive each second

FDM6 just tries to resume your downloads on removable drives when you insert it. Yes, it tries even if there are no such downloads. This is just not optimized yet.

There is no guarantee that automatic checking will success, so never set it as a default action.Alex wrote:Is there a guarantee that a drive will always be mounted at the same point in all the possible casesUsher wrote:FDM should NOT check any drive which isn't present on FDM download list. Once again:
1. By default check only downloads from FDM download list rather than all drives. Check available drives only on download start.
2. If some download is missing, ask user what to do.
3. If you insist on automatic checking, provide needed choice in FDM config. For example:
(*) check only drives from FDM download list;
( ) don't check any drive (display only errors);
( ) ask user on download (re)start;
( ) check automatically drives from custom list (comma separated drive letters, volume names, GUIDs, etc.)
[_____________________________];
( ) check automatically all drives.
And who the hell is General Failure and why is he reading drive A:?
Have you seen anyone downloading file to the floppy drive or mounting external drive as A:? Which Windows version displays A: or B: as available for drive management? AFAIK these letters can be only used from the command line, for example in SUBST command.

FDM 6.7 Release Candidate portable version ?....
Re: FDM 6.7 Release Candidate
I'm using the RC version,
Screen when downloading (new video),
I think I renamed my favorite name
It will not be reflected and will revert to the default video title.
In the next version I want to improve it to reflect my favorite title just like 5.1.38.

Hello,
Don't ask me about this. We just query all the mounted volumes using Qt (https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qstorageinfo.html#mountedVolumes). It's Qt that forces the floppy drive to work. Seems because its driver can't cache the information Qt queries from it...

Re: FDM 6.7 Release Candidate
So use this function only on demand, when starting a new download, trying to move existing downloads, etc. I know it's hard to learn all QT framework quirks, but I think that someone has already found better solution or workaround. Users of other programs don't complain on similar behaviour.Alex wrote:We just query all the mounted volumes using Qt
