Funny, youtube-dl and a couple others I just tried work just fine. In fact, I can't remember the last time (in many YEARS) that youtube-dl has lost basic youtube DL functionality for even a full day.

Agree, youtube-dl is a good thing to take note of. They react to changes on youtube within hours, not days. Github repo. Not copyrighted (public domain).

So you can reuse this code if possible… Note that youtube parser in FDM 3.9.7 is still broken.

I suspect that there is some malware at the sites you have visited, in your Firefox or in your system.

I have very similar situation. Each time I perform search in FF FDM tries to download 'accounts.google.com file'

I'm using FDM 5.1.33.6791, FF 56.0.2, FDM extension 3.0.3.
When I disable or remove extension problem is of course gone as FDM is not capturing FF downloads. With previous version such issue didn't occur.

Create a new Windows user account or a new Firefox profile at least and do tests using this account/profile with FDM extension running as the only one extension enabled in Firefox.

Thanks a lot for this great software. I am a user of FDM since its very inception. I am now using its X64 version (the new one) and am honestly displeased with it, compared to what I still experience with its XP version.

The XP version is much more customizable, had a much more powerful settings list, gave a much more detailed control over the settings, and also much better in terms of download efficacy.

This x64 version doesn't allow me to fine-tune the download speed. It only has 3 speeds.
For many other options as well, it is very oversimplified.
It doesn't remember to continue the interrupted / crashed downloads. I need to check it many times to see if they are still running or not.

It is very displeasing for someone who has had the experience with its older brother.
I am not a computer rookie, and have lots of experience with computers and even programming. I had also given feedback about the previous FDM versions. I m saying this to ensure the problems are not caused by my potential lack of experience. I have had no problem (absolutely no problem) with previous FDM.

My suggestion:

1. Please provide 2 versions of FDM. An FDM like the older brother. A Lite FDM, like this new version.
2. Please fix the "Download Continuation Bug" problem I mentioned above.

I am using Windows 10 64bit.

@victorxstc, have you considered going to v3? I know I went to v5 because it was a newer different version and after just a week of using it I dropped it and went back to v3. The v5 is far to simplistic and lacks alot of customization and controls that you could get from v3. After going back it was godsend doing so as I got more control and could resume links that permitted such action to take place without loosing the links all together. I like you already giving my grievances about the lack of controls and customization as v3-it doesn't look pretty like v5 but that's not what I want out of a Downloader program to just do it's job not give out eye candy but do nothing else. So put out your complaints but do try v3 again after removing all of v5 and you will be more happier in the end just be cautious of v3 1638 I have problem with FF36.0.2 when using it. So I went back to v3 1636 and the download issues with torrent programs have been fixed. I asked and asked them to fix but I myself not sure what if anything got through it just sounds like v5 is guinea pig downloader before v6 comes out.

I'm on Win10 Fall Creators Update with FDM 5.1.33 and FireFox57.
Everything worked for the first couple of days, but now everytime I open a new tab in FF FDM wants to download a random file from a site I have visited recently. Everything goes back to normal if I disable the FDM extention in FF.
