If the idea informer website is used, I also have it posted there.

While I like that FDM is getting development, the 5.1.10 beta I downloaded was 'dumbed down' entirely too far. While many people will be more than happy with the simplicity of the new interface, many of your more advanced users use the software precisely because it does allow for advanced use.

An example is torrent integration. While I applaud FDM's dev team for continued support of the torrent protocol, many people do not use it for that purpose. I already have a quite capable, and much better setup just for torrents, on its own dedicated machine, so that some of the software that I use such as *nix distributions and some software, get full bandwidth of my connection that I am not currently using. With FDM 3.x I can happily save files to the correct location without any hassle. In the new interface, so many options are no longer present. Also I did specify during install to not associate with torrents and magnets, which should have been an indication that I did not want torrent support in the program enabled.

TLDR; please bring back advanced options to 5.x generation of FDM. It's dumbed down *too much*.

- No support for Windows XP/Vista. In case of popular demand, support for older versions of Windows may be renewed in future releases.

- What a good idea to kick out over 11 % of all users.
- XP is still ranked number 2 with almost 11 % share (and not going down since months). Why a Mac version for 7 % if XP is missing?
- I am that much disappointed. How useless this FDM 5.1 Beta is!

Still forced to use version 5.0 preview build 4726 with FF37.0.2

While XP is still possibly on 11% of the world's computers, I disagree that it should be supported by any software any longer, for many reasons. To list a few of them:
1: XP is insecure. Argue it into the ground, it is just simply insecure, period. I could care less that it *could* be secure if microsoft felt like continuing support, because they won't. Without further security fixes, people with XP on their systems are just asking for data breaches. As I work in the IT field, I'm seeing more and more clients come to me with computers that have been compromised.
2: Code has matured. If the developers had to continue to support XP's insecure kernel, it would cripple the code for newer, more secure versions of Windows, and would also require extra work for porting to other OS's like Mac and Linux, which have very strong user policies.

I could keep enumerating things but trust me, the list is very long, and boring. Please crawl out from under that rock and get a new version of windows or another OS. Or don't, I'm sure your local technicians will love your business.

Thank you for your feedback. The silent mode is planned to be added in the nearest releases.

Could you kindly list what other features you'd like to have in the new FDM?

Also I did specify during install to not associate with torrents and magnets, which should have been an indication that I did not want torrent support in the program enabled.

Now, during the installation process, FDM5 should ask you about torrent association as well.

Sorry, but you are completely wrong!

Numerous ATMs(!!!!!), computers of the armies(!!!!!), of States(!!!!) and so on still are using Windows XP. Even I have 2 Win XP and only one Win 10 computer. Prefer Win XP. Last Windows XP updates I have installed about 2 weeks ago. It is still up to date. Why to prefer the minority of Mac users over the majority (position 2 or 3)? Windows XP is no longer the focus of attacks, but Windows 10 is. Have a lot of fun with your supposedly secure Windows 10.

And the Space Shuttle used DOS. Just because they are in use does NOT make it secure.

Furthermore, you're the one that is wrong. Go back in time when Vista first started Beta testing - and we had a big crisis - XP drivers would not work in Vista. Anyone who had an ATI Graphics card will remember that very well - it took many, many iterations of the Catalyst Control Center to finally work right in Vista / 7.

Fast forward to today. I have a machine that is well over 5 years old, that I built myself (and thus runs every bit as well as when I built it). The last BIOS and many key drivers for my system motherboard, an eVGA, are from 2011, and in the case of the drivers, were written for Windows 7. But I can still use them in Windows 10 - and in fact, I am doing so with 2 very specific drivers, for my USB 3 connections.

So, yes, the codebase has matured and it takes a lot of extra work (almost double the amount of code ) to maintain a single program that runs on everything from XP on up to the new WinX versus one that eliminates XP, 2000, and server 2003.

Don't believe me? Go looking around on the Internet at different software - see how many places have a line such as follows: "XP no longer supported." Or, else, have a line such as "This version will not work with Windows 2000, XP, or Server 2003. To use this application on those OSs, please download the last working version for those OSs from here."

I know you've seen it - you just haven't put 2 and 2 together to understand why you're seeing this.

1. It's extremely hard to support XP now. It's easier to add Linux support (and we will).
2. It'll be impossible soon. We are not planning to change our UI engine: CEF next version will drop XP support.

In "Browser Integration > Skip files with extensions", the extensions added are case sensitive.

Like, if I add "jpg" into the list, any file with extension "jpg" will be ignored, but not the "JPG" ones.

The issue has been fixed in the FDM extension 2.1.4 for Chrome. The update will be available in a couple of hours.

On download is it still the same i.e main GUI opens?
Are you going to change it i.e main GUI should not open?
