possible bug? forbidden character in windows
possible bug? forbidden character in windows
i download a driver.zip...accidentally press \ or /, whichever that one was(i forgot already) then download, the zip turn to folder instead.
just thought it might be a bug because fdm ignore some youtube file name which contain forbidden character such as ? or vertical bar.
win 7 32bit
fdm 6.13

Re: possible bug? forbidden character in windows
Oh really? Windows use both \ and / as path separator so "your/file.zip" should be saved as "file.zip" in "your" subfolder. Did you replace the whole filename with a single character?juhvd wrote:i download a driver.zip...accidentally press \ or /, whichever that one was(i forgot already) then download, the zip turn to folder instead.
Renaming and deleting were and still are risky operations, there is no possibility to prevent all actions taken with lack of users' attention.
This behaviour should be fixed, I think. IMHO, FDM should allow only Unicode Plane 0 characters, other characters (including annoyingly abused emojis) should be removed (filtered out) or replaced with underscores.juhvd wrote: just thought it might be a bug because fdm ignore some youtube file name which contain forbidden character such as ? or vertical bar.

its like this dri\or/ver.zip, it turn into folder of dri\ver.zip...full address like this C:\users\user\downloads\dri\ver.zip.
Re: possible bug? forbidden character in windows
just to clear misunderstand if there any here...what i mean on those is fdm download vid but without those character. as in, it ignored it because its a forbidden character.Usher wrote:This behaviour should be fixed, I think. ok i download driver archive from here https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/tl-wn727n/#Driver & then fdm dl download box appear, i change the name a bit & then proceed to press enter but at the same time accidentally pressed \or/ due to my big hand on my small laptop(you know how the layout keep varying between model...etc)
the result i get is as i stated above.
the character is typed in "filename" box & not the "save to" box.
i expect fdm to ignore the character since it ignored those if i download video from youtube. or atleast halt & warn user about those. i mean who know what catastrophe that single user mistake could do. also has not tried with other forbidden character or other os. luckily for me no weird thing happen.
Re: possible bug? forbidden character in windows
pardon my english...you can ignore that stuff about layout, what im trying to say is - different laptop, different keyboard key/button placement, spacing & stuff.
