Re: FDM 3.9.6 RC
Now FDM plugin for Firefox (vmsfdmff30.dll from build 1.7.3.2) is broken. Firefox 38.0.1 hangs right after the start, never showing the browser window.
Flvsniff.dll build 1058 seems to work OK with FDM plugin build 1.7.3.1.
FDM plugin for IE still causes random crashes on IE8 start as described earlier (opening only single tab window; no main iexplore.exe process running, no toolbar etc.; crash in ieframe.dll module).
Tested as always on a fully updated WIndows XP, logged in to a clean Windows user profile, no antivirus or internet security software running; allowed only FDM and flash player plugins, other add-ons in browsers disabled.

Seems to work OK now. Thanks.Alex wrote:Visual C++ 2013 STL bug. Fixed.
In most cases it closes with no report - just like closing of a single tab in main IE process, so it may take time to get crash dump again...Alex wrote:Could you please send the crash dump?Usher wrote:FDM plugin for IE still causes random crashes on IE8 start as described earlier (opening only single tab window; no main iexplore.exe process running, no toolbar etc.; crash in ieframe.dll module).

Oh~well, the FDM plugin for Firefox is compatible with Firefox 38.0.1, but I feel Chinese Simplified translation is not updated.
Re: FDM 3.9.6 RC
Send it to the developers, as they ask, please.Alexander Nevsky wrote:I feel Chinese Simplified translation is not updated.

Re: FDM 3.9.6 RC
FDM RC 1549
FDM Plugin 1.7.3.2
flvsniff.dll Build 1058
(install .rdf adjusted to 40.* Max)
O/S Win7 x64
Regretfully FDM is bypassed by 38.0.5 Beta and above deferring to Firefox downloader.
More worrying IMHO however is that with FDM installed even if ignored by Firefox I have come across a serious issue.
The flvsniff.dll build 1058 is causing a major issue (on my PC) with Firefox 39.0b1, and also causes similar types of issue with 38.0.5 Beta. (I have not tried older flvsniff.dll).
I installed FDM RC 1549 as instructed and followed the " flvsniff.dll" instructions as advised.
I ticked "Monitor flash downloads in browsers".
I then updated install.rdf to accept max or 40 .
I then enabled the FDM plugin 1.7.3.2.
Problem:. With "Monitor flash downloads in browsers" enabled the above versions upon closing leave firefox running in memory.
With 39.0b1 I can open and run Firefox even with the previous or several previous Firefox' still showing as running in Windows Task Manager. If I keep opening and closing Firefox the number running just accumulates.
With 38.0.5b3 Beta I was usually not allowed to open Firefox a 2nd time unless I first forcibly closed the one running in memory Windows Task Manager.
When I UNTICKED "Monitor flash downloads in browsers" Firefox functions as expected (namely, closed properly every time so far and entries disappear from Windows Task Manager".
To re-check my findings I re-enabled the "Monitor flash downloads in browsers" and the issue started again.
Seems very consistent on My PC which is normally highly stable.
FDM seems to work OK with Release 38.0.1 with "Monitor flash downloads in browsers" Ticked, BUT clearly Firefox have been changing things around from 38.0.5 onwards which not only stops FDM working but causes FDM to interfere with Firefox closing.
flvsniff.dll Build 1058 enabled via "Monitor flash downloads in browsers"
Hope these observations are of assistance to the FDM Developer.
Kind Regards

Try with flvsniff.dll build 1040 and report if it helped.dko wrote:The flvsniff.dll build 1058 is causing a major issue (on my PC) with Firefox 39.0b1, and also causes similar types of issue with 38.0.5 Beta. (I have not tried older flvsniff.dll).

Hi Usher,
Thanks for your interest and suggestion. I can confirm that Firefox 39.0b1 has closed properly with around 20 openings and closings of Firefox using flvsniff.dll build 1040 and with Monitor flash downloads in browsers" FDM plugin enabled.
Obviously, with flvsniff.dll build 1040 being used FDM is still bypassed by Firefox 39.0b1 for file downloads BUT THAT is a Different issue, no doubt caused by one of Firefox Developers latest changes of method in 38.0.5, 39 and beyond.
Usher, after my last post I did notice something that may be helpful (or not LOL).
I disabled FDM plugin in Firefox when using the problematic (for me) flvsniff.dll build 1058 but left the "Monitor flash downloads in browsers" still ticked in FDM and FDm was still running. I thought that would avoid the issue with flvsniff.dll build 1058 and firefox closing properly - BUT IT DID NOT, and Firefox still failed to close.
My lack of understanding made me think that my disabling of the FDM plugin in Firefox that flvsniff.dll build 1058 would not then cause issues (I suppose as FDM runs outside Firefox that was why disabling the plugin was not effective).
Kind Regards
Re: FDM 3.9.6 RC
FDM 3.9.6 RC build 1549 (flvsniff.dll 1058), no additional extensions in Firefox enabled.
On my Windows XP Firefox crashed after updating from 38.0.1 to 38.0.5 but after restart (possibly killing the hanging Firefox.exe process before) it worked normally and could download video from youtube and other sites. Firefox 38.0.5 worked also normally with my default Firefox profile with many add-ons enabled.
Installing Firefox 39 beta ended with another crash and after restart FDM plugin doesn't work at all in the browser - for regular downloads and video. There are some more issues with this Firefox version so it's not only FDM that doesn't work.
