FDM & Google Chrome

Postby sjwt » Sat Jan 09, 2016 9:13 am

Ok, so when I chose to use download all in chrome I either get no response, or a crash in FDMs Native host messaging, that error message is generic but I have included the event viewer application log of the error.

This started sometime after the 28th of december.

I have tried uninstalling both chrome and FDM and then reinstalling, with no fix, I've also tried the light version of FDM and the new version 5.

FDM download all seems to work with IE at the moment, but I do not work well with IE <Grin>

Any ideas?

Chrome version Version 47.0.2526.106 m

I'm using the Chrome extension and the latest version of FDM and browser integration doesn't work for me. I click on a link and instead of opening in FDM it just opens in the default download manager. I'm on Windows 10 64bit if that matters.

Is the browser integration properly enabled within the FDM client? Please make sure that the FDM extension is activated in the browser as well.

I got it to work. The extension didn't install correctly I guess because removing it and grabbing it again worked. I think it's because I had Lite installed at the time, whereas on my second try I had the full beta version.

I saw this issue as well. I think you can reproduce this as follows:

Install 3.9.7 as an admin user, allowing UAC elevation when prompted. Installs to "%ProgramFilesx86%"
Log in as a standard user, enable monitoring install extension etc.
Doesn't work.

Now uninstall completely (and remove the folder from "Program Files (x86)" (it leaves behind one exe in its install folder: "Chrome\fdm_nativehost.exe") Perhaps this is in use by chrome and can't be deleted?

Anyway, now install instead through a std user account. Won't prompt for UAC elevation and installs to "%localAppData%". Do the above again.
Works.

Seems like a permission issue, where the extension or chrome want to write to the installation directory (which also explain why "Chrome\fdm_nativehost.exe" is not deleted?).

Version of chrome: 50.0.2661.102m
Version of FDM: fdm-lite 3.9.7 (the latest one right now)

Hi. I'm using both version of FDM - 3.9.7 & 5.1.18. Now when I download sth in Chrome download starting in 5.1.18, but I want use 3.9.7. What should I change on settings? I changed "Automatically catch links" on both version - turn off (5.1.18), turn on (3.9.7) and now downloading is provided by Chrome. :(
PS. I have Free Download Manager Chrome extension - 2.1.9

Dear User!

To make a certain FDM version catch links, it is necessary to enable in the appropriate version the integration into Google Chrome and turn off the integration in the other version.

I've gone through almost all this thread, and still can't work out if FDM is actually meant to work with Chrome :-\

Certainly can't get mine to, although works great in Firefox.

Dear User!

Google Chrome is supported by FDM. So, it should work.
Could you kindly describe your problem in more details?
Please specify you OS, FDM version, and FDM extension version.

Clive

i dont know if this is the correct place to post this....

but...

when i am trying to download a file rather than opening it in FDM it starts playing the audio of the video file in the browser.

i downloaded the FDM Program widows 10 and i downloaded the FDM file extention chrome. i dont know why it wont let me download the links with the windows program. it only opens the audio of the file in chrome browser.

i reset chrome. i uninstalled FDM and reinstalled several times. i have no idea what is going on.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

i just beginning to try 5.x.x
but
in my opinion, chrome is fake as google (lightning fast browser? stores everything till 5-10GB, then crashes? also `favored` in `action` by `owner` for `advertisement`?)

so i use Firefox to `catch` downloads with fdm
beside being `a lil bit negative` to chrome, FDM works great with Firefox (even Firefox doesnt lately, it became fat or something late years, still FDM and Firefox ok) (sometimes i saw fdmhelper stops-crashes but it was my fault mostly)

FDM is best, i still sometimes wonder if they `do` something hideous? free, working well, etc, so hehe, you know
use FDM with Firefox, chrome is just a nuicanse NOT REALLY NEEDED (exm: facebook),

ty all FDM creew (if there is nothing to be worried about  ) they do great `work`
