@johnlgalt Thanks for verifying!

... aaaaand the FDM addon has been restored to AMO. But it was indeed removed, now there is a new version from 2-3 hours ago at the time I'm writing this post and the addon history only shows this new version; go figure. Thanks for your big help!

Lol. That probably explains why it was not showing up, the new version was 'under review."

Well, it seems that the old extension was removed automatically because it wasn't updated for a long time and probably there was no AMO user activity in this time.
Build 3.0.54 is generally the same, the only changes are:
- link to FDM webpage changed from http to httpS;
- version number bumped;
- refreshed certificates and digital signatures.

Makes sense. although auto-removal for an add-on only 6 months old or so doesn't make a lot of sense. But it's Mozilla, so....

Chrome version still 3.0.52 (yes, I know they are not intrinsically related to each other, just pointing out my observation).

FDM extension might be reported as malware by some lame user. See this message:

Lol. Never reported as malware here. I'd suspect that user's anti-malware program.

Hello,

it seems the Firefox add-on does not play well with Portable Firefox (I understand it needs a proper installed version of Firefox for the integration to work properly). I'm currently running an unofficial FDM integration add-on, and at least it works, but through some tricks and things like downloading from Google Drive bring to a 403 error.

Could the official FDM Firefox add-on be made compatible with Portable Firefox?

Thanks!

Did you try to use the 'create portable version' from the program's hamburger menu? If so, what didn't work about it? If not, can you try and see if that works, and if it does not report back here on what (if anything) works and what doesn't?

Or, better yet, maybe start a new topic specific to portable Fx + portable FDM....

Which portable version do you mean? Downloaded from some site (link is needed) or self-made?

Downloading from your own Google Drive or from another public files? Can you describe the way you have tried to start download?

1) 800 KB/s * 8 bits / byte == 6400 Kbps / 1024 Kb / Mb = 6.25 Mbps

2) Firefox DLs without using multi-part downloading, but FDM uses multipart DLing - so tehre will be more variance as FDM reports a summation per parts while Fx reports more average over total DL time (I think - I may actually be wrong about this, this is how I understand it).

3) Overhead for DL with any sort of networking is usually ~10%, which might be contributing to a variation on what TM reports versus what Fx and FDM report - that can be easily verified, I'll run a long DL with FDM on a high speed connection and watch both FDM and TM and see if there is a measurable difference.

Hey, there.
I've had FDM installed for a while and have been using it fine with Chrome. I switched to FF today, and installed the FDM extension, as well as enabled Firefox in the FDM settings.
For some reason, downloads simply aren't being caught by FDM, despite this and are instead being caught by Firefox's menu. When i click "save" with FF's menu it just downloads FF's way and not through FDM.
I run Windows 10 and FDM worked even last night on Chrome.

Could you follow the reporting rules and provide more details, please?
What FDM version/build have you installed?
What download links have you tested?
Have you tried to use context menu - right click the download link and select "Download with FDM"?

Hey, sorry.
Version:
FDM is up to date- just told me so when I issued "check for updates".

Tests which failed:
I tried different things like a Discord video or a test file on a different website. They all just bring up the Firefox catcher or directly open the file explorer window.
I also tried a file from Ubiqfile hosting and it also didn't catch.
Trying to download a file from Google drive didn't catch.
Loading an mp4 in my browser window and right-clicking also failed.

Tests which worked:
Now I just also tried a YT > MP3 download and it did get caught by FDM.
I just tried a file from https://www.thinkbroadband.com/download and it worked as well.

Context Menu
So far I also don't see FDM in my right-clicks while using FF though when I would use Chrome I did often see it.
When I tried to do this with Ubiqfile it only downloaded an html.
When I tried to do it with a loaded mp4 in-window, it didn't come up as an option.
