Can you add an option to block thunder(xunlei)?

Postby China Loong » Thu Nov 15, 2018 6:26 am

Xunlei(thunder) violates the spirit of sharing, so we hope to add a switch to shield Xunlei(thunder) users. Let those selfish users of thunder no longer suck blood.

Hello, I am a FDM user in China, I really like this software first!
In China, the most downloaded software for users is Thunder. However, Thunder violates fair sharing, and the shared documents are given priority to Thunder users. Thunder is a vampire software, so I hope to increase the option to block Thunder users. After all, I only know that people who don’t know how to share blood are not willing to continue sharing with them.

We hope to add a function that can restrict the connection of specific terminals, such as Thunderbolt.

Do you mean Thunder from Xunlei? It's been already suggested.
Note that FDM has never got a feature to block torrent clients.

I want say something about FDM, thunder/xunlei

Postby LC2U » Sat Jan 04, 2020 5:17 am

By Google Translate

I am a Chinese user and I like to download files using FDM. It is light and fast.
However, after long-term use, I found that some problems have affected my experience to some extent.
1. Magnet link is very slow to get torrent, even can't download to torrent.
2. Does not support eMule links
3. Users cannot be banned from the P2P network (Some users never upload data for me, but they will get very, very much data from me. I do n’t like these users who do n’t share the spirit)

Hello. As for the speed, it probably depends on the actual torrent. the eMule links is an interesting point, but banning P2P users is an unlikely thing to be added.

Regarding the ban on P2P users, I hope that Google Translate can convey the message as much as possible, and I will try to explain why it is necessary to do so.
In China, there is a well-known download tool, xunlei, which is almost all-round, and has its own server for member users to accelerate, but it will crazy request data from other users in the network, P2P should be open It should be that each user also shares the data to other users when they get the data, but Thunder is not the case.
Thunder does not share data with other users
Thunder only shares data to its own users
So every time I download a BT file using FDM, I always upload a lot of data to Thunder users, and they will not give me any feedback.
I hope that FDM can give an option to ban Thunder users. I use FDM to download P2P files in order to contribute with my upload, rather than to these selfish companies who do not know the return.
(Xunlei has its own proxy server and accelerates services with members. This is why Xunlei is not willing to share data with others. Xunlei relies on these features to make a profit)
The following are the tags of Thunder (but not all of them)
-XL0012-***
Xunlei / ***
7.x.x.x
Xfplay
I hope that these tag users can be banned, so that users who are really willing to share it can be assured. In some P2P software with a large user base, such as uTorrent and Bitcomet, there are plug-ins and methods to respond to these restrictions.
I want my data to be shared with those who know how to share it, just as they worked hard to upload it to me.

Ah, now I get it. We have received requests regarding the ban of Thunder users, it's being considered as a possible future option.

Shield thunder/xunlei

Postby salt boy » Fri Apr 17, 2020 2:03 pm

We should have followed the BT protocol in the spirit of sharing, but in China, there is a download software called thunder, which downloads files uploaded by other users, but it only uploads them to their own servers, causing a lot of BT dead. Can we develop a function to block it?
