Is FDM open source?
Hello everyone. My question is this: Is FDM open source program? The reason I asked this question, because the information I found on the internet about this topic is outdated and not understandable. According to these sources FDM is closed source since FDM 3.
But I found FDM 6.3 source code in SourceForge? And I'm confused. Can someone explain this understandable?
Thanks.

Re: Is FDM open source?
I found SourceForge link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/freedownload/
Open Source StackExchange topic: https://opensource.stackexchange.com/qu ... opment-fdm
Wikipedia says FDM is open source until 3.9.7.

Re: Is FDM open source?
There is NO mention about version 6.3 there. So how did you find this number?forquestion wrote:I found SourceForge link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/freedownload/
There is a full source code for FDM 3.9.7 build 1641 on the Sourceforge. Missing files were committed last year, in commit r61 dated on 2020-06-19, see here:

So how did you find this number?
Maybe I misspelled it, I'm sorry. I wanted to mention the latest version of FDM.
But I'm looking for the answer to this:
In the latest news appearing on the Free Download Manager site, 6.9 appears to be the latest version..
In other words, it is necessary to answer the questions of how correct it is GPL licensed on the FDM site, which version is correct, is it open source, if so, where are the source codes.
I have no intention of stealing code. But when I was talking about this software on another forum, it caught my mind and started researching.
I am saying again, I saw and found the path specified in StackExcange for version 3.9. And you also say that, the source codes for FDM 3.9.7 in SourceForge
The version I site the answer for is the latest version.
Let me specify my questions one by one so that there is no confusion. Probably not misunderstood.
1. Is the latest version of FDM open source that I saw on the site? (6.9 if I'm not mistaken, I said 6.3 above, typed wrong, my fault).
2. Is FDM licensed with GPLv3? Or does it have its own license? Where can I look at this?
3. If FDM is open source, where is the source code stored? Again, I have no intention of stealing code. But I am very curious.
In addition, the article written on Stack Exchange has completely confused me.
If I have any mistake sorry for all. English is not my native language.
Re: Is FDM open source?
OK, first of all, you need to realize something:
FDM ver 3.xxx is the one that is at SourceForge.
FDM 5 and FDM 6 are not open source as FDM 3 was. Different builds. FDM 3 versus FDM 5 versus FDM 6 is like saying Office '97 versus Office 2010 versus Office 2016 - again, *completely* different versions.
Second - latest version listed on the website is version 6.13.4 - https://www.freedownloadmanager.org/download.htm
Also, be aware that the Version 3 was a Windows only product. Version 6 is available for Windows, MacOS, Linux and Android.
So - recap. Version 3 is GPL OS. Subsequent versions are not.
