Import from 3.9.7 to FDM 5.1
Import from 3.9.7 to FDM 5.1
Have been using 3.9.7 for a long time. Trying to find a simple way to upgrade to 5.1 keeping ALL the settings / directory + download history data et al and do an 'in place upgrade'.
Exporting settings + history data from FDM 3.9.7 is possible but could find no ways to import to 5.1.
This is possible?
Any suggestions to upgrade the core FDM keeping all the data.
Thank you.

Hello,
Sorry, this is not possible. But we plan to make FDM6 able to import data from both FDM3 and FDM5.

So, if I try to update from FDM3.9 to FDM5.1 then I will lose all my 1503 torrents?

No, they will still exist in FDM3. But will not appear in FDM5.

Thanks.
I will stay in FDM3 then.
Re: From 3.97 to FDM 5.1
It's not so hard to resume torrents from FDM 3.x in FDM 5.1 without losing downloads, but you will lose ratio. And you will have to remove *.fdmdownload extension from unfinished files if you decide to go back to FDM 3.xTiger.711 wrote:Thanks.Alex wrote:No, they will still exist in FDM3. You mean I should add all my 1503 torrents one by one? Open torrent properties, copy URL from commentary (if exist) paste it in browser and then download torrent-file again... 1503 times?
Re: From 3.97 to FDM 5.1
I'm afraid FDM 5.1 will be killed by automatic adding more than hundred torrents at once.Tiger.711 wrote:You mean I should add all my 1503 torrents one by one?
Wrong. Such actions are needed only for magnet links. If you have *.torrent files, life is much easier. Do you want me to add description to FAQ?Tiger.711 wrote:Open torrent properties, copy URL from commentary (if exist) paste it in browser and then download torrent-file again... 1503 times?

Actually, that is a pretty good idea

I don't have torrent-files. I downloading them in %tmp% and then they was deleted by OS automaticly.
Re: From 3.97 to FDM 5.1
In FDM 3.9.7 only torrent files downloaded via magnet links are moved to FDM service files. You must use hex editor to dig them out from there. Other torrent files, downloaded directly from normal download links stay intact in their download folder. That's why I was asking.Tiger.711 wrote:I don't have torrent-files. To move fast large number of torrent downloads to FDM 5.1 you must create some lists of torrent files (separate list for every download folder, as you must select that folder manually in FDM 5.1) and convert the lists to batch files (with commands like fdm.exe fileNNN.torrent) or to metalink files (they may be downloaded from local HTML file).

Well, even if Windows don't delete files from the temp folder, and if Firefox don't delete files from temp folder by closing the browser, there is still me, who delete files from all temporary folders occasionally.

Well, will FDM do this automatically, or it's a long and heavy and user-unfriendly migrate way?

FDM 6.14.1.3935 (f040724) cannot import history of downloads from FDM 3.97?
It is looking for a .fds file and FDM 3.97 can only export .txt or .xml.
Am I missing anything in this regard or this is an upcoming feature?
Thank you.

Re: Import from 3.9.7 to FDM 5.1
This is another reason I use a separate torrent program to do torrents activity.

Hello,
Sorry, this is still not implemented yet. We do not see enough requests for this from our users to prioritize this task.
