Just downloaded the beta and still wondering if there are any plans to add a small missing feature I mentioned previously at viewtopic.php?p=47005#p47005

I've been using free download manager for just over a year now and I love that it basically does what the paid ones do but even more and yet is free. However one missing feature is when you open the save window it just shows folders - In previously download managers I have used you could see folders and files e.g. a standard windows save dialog. That way you could go to the exact folder you wanted to go to and if it was for a program update and you want the same name simply overwrite it. If like me you sometimes have version numbers in downloads you could also in the window delete the previous one.

To show you what I mean in case of confusion I have included a standard save window below that shows you the actual files inside a folder (rather than just showing you folders).

Clean install of FDM 6.6.0.2261 beta for Windows 10/8.1/8/7 64-bit on Windows 10 and having a few strange issues with setting Preferences.

Using Windows 10 Home - Version 10.0.18363

I had the same issue as user koh where the Traffic Limits boxes were empty and no downloads would start until all those boxes were filled out. This showed another issue in setting Traffic Limits with entering numbers in field boxes when making changes. It seems to be random, but sometimes you can't alter a number in a field without clicking in another field first and then back to the one you want to change. In other words, editing a field does not seem to work every time.

Also another odd issue in Preferences: If you untick "Enable Sleep Mode while running finished downloads" and have both "Check for updates automatically" and "Install updates automatically" ticked, leave Preferences and then if you go back to Preferences the update options are now unticked. This seems to be an issue that can be replicated repeatedly.

It seems there are some issues with how it's saving preferences. They seem to be OK, but if you then go back to Preferences, random things previously set (as above) are no longer the same as you had them set.

On a positive note though, all other things it currently does seem to work without issue, so great work overall.

Did a clean install of FDM 6.6.0.2261 beta for Windows 10. I have Brave browser (chromium based) and do not have chrome also installed. The preferences in fdm indicate google chrome is not installed, so I can only check the intercept downloads in your web browser option. I installed the free download manager chrome extension from the chrome store into brave. It is not catching any clicks such as the beta version 64bit fdm download from your website nor many other normal or button based links I can specify. Torrent magnet did allow sending to fdm. Many are moving to brave due to googles partnership with the pharmaceutical industry, censorship, and privacy issues but allow them to continue using their extensions etc. Also does v3 I could reinstall also have the same issue with brave to use in the meanwhile or is it only fdm 6?

Good news, FDM 6.6.0.2261 beta for Windows 10 click downloads worked with brave. The problem seems to be that another program voodooshield needs to be set to disabled while installing fdm and turning on the fdm extension and at first glance seems to still work turned back on after doing the install with it temporarily set to disabled. I had noticed it flash when extension was enabled. Voodooshield however also is causing a problem in the beta when you try to right click a file and select show in folder it doesnt show the folder and has crashed fdm when voodooshield is on in smart/aggressive or moderate so I'll have to ask them if there is a workaround such as rules on their side but I'm mentioning to you. It did not seem to cause problem with delete file. Dragging a url from brave window to v6 also works ok.

I also like the idea of a standard windows type save dialog to click an existing filename to name or ask to overwrite.

Hello and thank yiu, the parser issues in FDM 6 have been fixed.
Other bugs are being fixed for the next FDM 6 updates.

What is quick launch below add desktop icon during installation...and just think you should know about this :

i download fdm 6.6.0.2261 beta installer, install it in my laptop with windows 7 home premium 32-bit. the weird thing is first time i install after/during installation an error popup, i dont remember what it is but it has "kernel" & "32" words in it...so i uninstalled it using iobit uninstaller...restart & then install fdm again using the same installer but this time that error didnt pop up, just feel weird. anyone here get the same error? btw both time fdm run after installation done but that error thingie make me curious a bit... thank you.

setting/preferences is also a bit buggy...the same issue as those guy from before a.k.a default values of "Maximum number of xxx" settings being empty (text boxes being empty in the preferences screen)...for me this happen after you close fdm windows after installation is done or after modifying value...by closing windows i didnt mean "quit"...also "update" & "power management" section also buggy(try play with it, tick one, close windows, open it again from tray if you didnt press back you probably still in preferences ui, what you tick probably stay...but press back & close the windows, open it again from tray and navigate to preferences then suprises!!!)...either both of them is ticked or none is ticked...also opening fdm windows after it was closed/minimized/hide whatever you want to call it, should not it direct it to main download ui instead preferences?...is that also a bug?...

I can't imagine any other reason except that your system is buggy... It must not display such a message, except the case that some other software is interfering with FDM.

hmmm, well fdm run fine so far, i can live with that error for now, gonna switch to linux mint anyway soon... question : will there be a tag for document, picture, software, archive in the future, because even though i can add tag manually it doesnt have any option to customize/edit tag such as assign certain file type/format to that tag.

Anyone experiencing that traffic limits sometime doesnt work? or exceed the value that was intended?...i set mine to 1536 KB/s on medium mode but while downloading it kinda show 1.7-2.3 MB/s sometime...

Interesting observation, but maybe it's just not showing precise traffic?
