problems in fdm beta 6

1. It is always downloading into C:\Downloads and further, it is also creating subfolders in to that even when I have specified the folder I want it to download all files into.
2. It has not at all taken my settings from 2.1. In that I had switched off the download progress window, I had specified my download folder, filename extension while downloading, and some other settings, but here I see it have reset all that.
3. It created half a dozen of more .sav files in the download folder that I had specified. Even when I delete those, it keeps on recreating them.
4. There had been so many settings options: General settings, download options, default download settings and further so many tabs, and further advanced button that I am utterly confused, not able to remember where what is.
5. 2.1 was working well in firefox 2.0.0.4 but this beta6 says it can't work with flashgot, and asks us to download flashgot. Why? Then, it continues picking the links forwarded by flashgot from firefox.
I am deleting it and going back to good old 2.1
Thanks.

FDM beta 6 works well, it downloads always in the folder specified by the user and does not create .sav files. Furthermore it works well with Firefox 2.0.0.5 with Flashgot installed. Vickyvirgo check your system for viruses and install the latest version of Firefox.

No, even if it works for
you without enabling UAC, that isn't true for everyone.
And I can assure you there is no need to reinstall the entire OS either. This is an FDM issue which alex has already confirmed in this thread and which he said will be fixed in the next build.
Until then, as ManDraKe already pointed out, setting the program's compatibility mode to XP SP2 should help as a work-around.

If the bug is reproducible then it can be solved. In the previous beta there was a serious bug under Vista, at least for me, so that FDM crashed every time when it was closed by right-clicking the tray icon and selecting the Exit option from the menu. I described the bug, attached the dump file created by FDM while crashing and the issue was fixed. Vickyvirgo complained about some major bugs, but did not do all that could be done to see if the bugs are related to FDM, Firefox or Windows. I don't say that he's lying, but some steps must be taken (at the very least reinstall FDM and reinstall FF) to help the developers understand how and why the bugs appeared.

Download speed limit might be a good idea. I cannot set it with the three levels.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64Bits with UAC off since the installation, i have FDM beta 6 and i have no problems, everything is working well, better than "IDM" that have a lot of compatibility problems like steam and others, im very happy with fdm continue with the good work.

This sounds more like a plugin/codec issue than an FDM bug.
Some videos won't work without a specific plugin/codec, DivX for instance. Try upgrading your plugins and codecs.
If it still won't work even with the right plugin/codec. There must be something wrong with the video itself. Maybe it's incomplete or broken.

My favorite new feature would be the web ui, great idea.
however, it isn't advanced enough yet... I imagine you're already working on improving it though.
It'd be great if you could make the entire program available online too
ok, no need to go overboard... but at least the save name and comment [and maybe the group + top of list placement] should be editable. (while at it, it'd be nice to be able to include that info when adding via command line too)
Making the download list managable (not just viewing the status, modifying it as well) and being able to change the bandwidth usage mode remotely would be awsome too.
Will you also be planning on adding an rss downloader? I mean, something like what utorrent has, but for regular downloads & flash video sites?
btw, I use vista and fdm works fine.

Sorry for my bad english. There are any problems with display sites in Russian. The module of the manager spoils the Russian coding and because of it it is impossible to read sites in Russian. Switching-off of the module helps only.
Free Upload Manager and Outlook Express / Outpost Firewall

Hello there,
Ive been using FDM 2.1 for quite some time now and it works like a charm. I thought I should give 2.3 beta 6 a try.
After installing at first everything works just fine. But the outpost Firewall now complains about fumoei.exe writing into the memory adress for msimn.exe (which is outlook express) and therefore shuts down network access for outlook express (as it seem to have been compromised to the firewall). I granted all rights to free upload manager (also component controll of Outpost Pro 3.0) but no matter what I do fumoei.exe keeps doing something what seems bad to the firewall - no mails for me! I had to roll back on 2.1
Whats to do about that. Can I manually deinstall FUM
Greets
