Firefox 40+ extension Release Candidate version
Firefox 40+ extension Release Candidate version
Hello,
There are some significant changes in Firefox 40 comparing to the previous versions of the browser.
We had to rewrite our extension from scratch practically.
We would like our users to help us test it because the Firefox 40 release is coming too soon

Re: Firefox 40+ extension ALPHA version
Thanks for a new version, will test it soon.
What about a problem with video monitoring in Internet Explorer? It was reported here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17267#p40714 and in topic for FDM 3.9.5.
I have turned off video monitoring in IE8 as promised here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17267&start=15#p40786
NO problem with IE for two months so far, no matter if my PC is heavily loaded or not.

Re: Firefox 40+ extension ALPHA version
Short report (for Firefox 39 and 40.0b9):
1. Firefox extension (at last proper name) is currently written in JavaScript. It means you can try if it works in 64-bit Firefox!
2. Video monitoring doesn't work at all for flash video downloads. There is no "Download with FDM" button seen, there is no action when selecting "Download video with FDM" from the context manu.
3. Catching Youtube videos works with errors. When you click "Download with FDM" button, Firefox shows error info with undefined error message. This message doesn't block FDM so you don't need to hurry with clicking "OK". After several seconds FDM finishes sniffing and shows unchanged "Download Youtube video" window, downloading and merging seems to be also unchanged and works OK.
4. Regular downloads (http, https, ftp) seem to work OK.
5. I haven't tested torrents, magnet links and downloads from file hosting services yet.

Re: Firefox 40+ extension ALPHA version
Two more remarks:
6. Firefox extension is still unsigned. There should be META-INF subfolder containing following files:
- manifest.mf (list of extension files with hashes);
- mozilla.rsa (Mozilla certificate);
- mozilla.sf (signature file) .
7. The installer doesn't copy files with the same version number so it doesn't replace old files with new, digitally signed copies.

Download from Youtube works OK now, flash video download still doesn't work.
Torrents and magnet links work OK, FDM still doesn't create sparse files when downloading from magnet links.

Re: Firefox 40+ extension ALPHA version
Okay, the extension works well on Firefox Nightly 42.0a1 x64 build. Just one issue: I have to manually change the max version in install.rdf to 42 to let it work. Will you loose version check?
And would you mind add an icon for this extension like what you do for chrome extension?
